ALEXANDER VRACIU - FEEDBACK

  A clerical error...

  A medal downgraded...

  Justice denied...

It's time to make it right...

I sent an e-mail to Boxer and Feinstein, but I think they divide emails into two piles to see which weighs more. I spoke to two people at MY congressman's office and have sent your url to a third (who happens to be ex-FAA). I hope they can pass the word effectively.

Alex saved our ass --- and it's not as though anyone were asking the navy to kiss his.

I had the good fortune to meet Cdr. Vraciu when he checked in to Kingsville, TX where I was a LTJG flight instructor. I didn't know enough history to take full advantage of the opportunity at that time, but I was fortunate enough to have two long conversations with him after he had retired to Danville.

The navy was very biased. I remember in Samuel Elliot Morrison's 12-volume history, when he listed squadron commanders (in one instance all LCDRs) except for one Ensign --- who, as Regular Navy --- was acting CAG.

Reserves who had been aces or POW's were allowed to get their 20 years, but knowing how to fight a war never counted for much in promotions. Alex Vraciu should have made more than Commander. And, if it hadn't been for the wife of the owner of (Witheld by Editor), (Witheld by Editor) wouldn't have made Brigadier.

I hope for success, but justice and the navy have little in common.

  Best Regards,
